Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap Shows Art & Animation in New Dev Diary
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap shows off their third dev diary which looks at the art and animations of the title.
Lizardcube and DotEmu show a rather cool dev diary video in which we see, Ben Fiquet talking about how the art for the upcoming Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is something different to modern day titles in terms of art. Ben Fiquet is a traditional artist, using frame-by-frame hand drawn artwork technique, which means that the animations you see in the game have been hand drawn for every frame for that animation.
He also talks about how the classic title was done in an 8-bit art style, and was obviously rather limited back in 1989 in terms of what games could do. In realising this, they were able to bring a wonderful amount of creativity to the title while keeping the feel of the classic title.
We have seen the title’s, Lionman character reveal, and we have also seen Wonder Girl who will also star in the title as a playable character. Fans of the classic can also switch between the old and new graphic style.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is heading to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PC, and Xbox One on the 18th of April.
