Nomad Games have confirmed that their digital twist on the board game classic Talisman will be making its way to Sony’s PS4 & Vita later this year.

As confirmed on the Nomad Games blog, the popular digital adaption of Talisman will be releasing in Spring of this year for both of Sony’s current consoles. The Sony versions will come complete with 58 characters to choose from, as well as 7 expansions for the game.

The game will also support 1-6 players out of the box, as well as well as cross-play between the two platforms.

For those unfamiliar with the title, it sees multiple players navigating several layers of map, gaining strength, completing quests, and defeating enemies as to eventually conquer the challenge of taking the middle-ground and declaring themselves the winner.

Talisman: Digital Edition is already available on Steam and mobile devices. On Steam the price ranges from £5.59 for a single, basic version to £48.99 for a complete version w/ a season pass that also covers future content.

This looks like such a good game that it might even be the “Talisman” for all board game adaptations going forward. Did you see what I did there?

In a world where almost every other game demands skill, tactical nuance and even an increasing amount of strategy, there’s always Talisman to fall back on if you want an experience so mind-numbingly dull and stupid that it damn near promises to reduce the number of active brains cells among those playing by 50%. Still, I’d love to win it – the modern world is too painful to be intelligent in, and it seems like the thicker one is, the closer one gets to leading a powerful nation state!

Whilst some would say that Talisman is the dullest, most frustrating and potentially even worst game of all time, I can’t help but feel that the pure nostalgia of rolling dice, going round in circles, reaching the end and then falling to my demise for no apparent reason might appeal to younger children. Talisman has that kind of “every man for himself” vibe that only the 1980’s could espose. I love it. You’ll love it. You’ll love to hate it.
