Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 sidelines Nurgle for Slaanesh and Vashtor

In the grim darkness of the far future…there was mostly Nurgle. Honestly, even as a Deathguard main on the tabletop, it was kind of annoying seeing every videogame adaptation of Chaos be Nurgle. Then, finally, something changed. The new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 shed light on many things: an October 14th release date, the inclusion of Mick Gordon’s beautiful compositions, Slaanesh as the major Chaos god and, last but not least…Vashtor.

In a universe as expansive as the 41st Millenium you’d have thought this level of variety is commonplace, but you’d be wrong. In fact, this is one of the only times in history that Slaanesh are getting depiction in a videogame (and I’m sure there are still fans waiting for a Slaanesh game in a…ahem…different genre). Not only did the trailer show off dismemberment, local damage mods, plasma fire and melee finishers but also, also, it was all set to an OST crafted by the fan-favourite Mick Gordon.

As if the revelation of this arch-villain wasn’t enough, the game is now just around the corner releasing on October 14th.

Everything shown in the Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 Trailer
  • Weapons. Our battle-sister can wield a Boltgun, of course, but was also showing the devastating wounds of a melta, missile launcher, incinerator, power sword, krak grenades, shotgun, plasma gun, chainsword, heavy bolter and grav gun.
  • Enemies. We saw Tzeentian pink and blue horros, Khornate bloodcrushers and the terrifying presence of Vashtor. Nurgle’s plague toads were still limping about, but I hope they take a back-seat for the other chaos gods to wreak some havoc after being negelcted in the videogame scene for so long. Combined with the previous trailer showing us Daemonettes, and this game now has all 4 chaos gods, plus Vashtor confirmed!
  • Release Date. Boltgun 2 is releasing on October 14th, so we don’t have long to wait before we can purge the unclean.

If you would rather sneak-stab instead of face-shoot, then the Skaven announcement from the same event might be more up your alley…
