Sudden Strike 4 Gameplay Trailer Released as PC Preorders Open

Kalypso Media, and developers Kite Games, have today started to accept pre-orders for the PC version of upcoming Sudden Strike 4.

The Sudden Strike series has been on a hiatus since the last full entry back in 2007, that itself following a five-year break. The new version adds in the ability to play as one of nine historical commanders, as well as including a boosted amount of units, and the ability to pause the game at will during single player.

Sudden Strike was, for many, the first taste at a tactical twist on the real-time strategy genre; with individual units having ammo counts, and supply and support lines required to keep your units alive and kicking. It’s been 16 years since the first instalment though, so it’ll be interesting to see what the new development team have to offer.

A features list was published with the press release, which follows:

-Sudden Strike 4 offers realistic real-time strategy gameplay with tactical depth and a historical setting
-Three campaigns with over 20 missions to test your tactical skills and determining the outcome of significant WWII battles
-As one of nine commanders, lead your army on the battlegrounds of the biggest military conflict in history
-Command more than 100 authentic units – including the Königstiger tank, the Katyusha rocket launcher and the Hawker Typhoon fighter plane
-‘Pause and play’ system allows you to suspend the action while issuing detailed commands and manoeuvres to your units.
-Pit yourself against other commanders in the competitive multiplayer mode
-The PC version features modding support with Steam Workshop integration
-There was also a gameplay trailer released, which you can view below.
