Micro Machines World Series Announced, Arriving 21st April

Codemasters have launched a very exciting trailer showing the return of classic miniature racing game, Micro Machines.

Micro Machines landed in 1991, and has since gone on to become a well known racing title. Codemasters yesterday announced that they’re bringing it back, and showed a very colourful teaser on Twitter.

Apparently arriving in April 2017, Micro Machines World Series will come packed with HD graphics and other features. Two classic game modes, Race, and Elimination will make their way back, There will also be Battle Arenas in which players can get destructive in a type of destruction derby style gameplay experience. There is a team play mode in which you can work alongside other racers to complete Capture the Flag, and King of the Hill game modes.

According to Codemaster’s VP Publishing, Jonathan Bunney, there will be some very popular toys, and board games that may feature as obstacles and tracks.

“Whether you’ve been playing Micro Machines since the early days or are new to the craziness of racing and battling vehicles across household environments, this incredibly fun experience is a welcome break from all the serious multiplayer alternatives. With the support of Hasbro and being able to feature some of their biggest brands, such as HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS, G.I. JOE, OUIJA and NERF, this represents the very best of social gaming.”

Multiplayer will be both local and online, with online supporting up to twelve players, and local supporting four players on the same screen, just like the classic!

The vehicles are apparently going to be customisable, and there are twelve of them. Exciting times, I can only wonder if the game will feature future DLC bringing branded vehicles to the game.

It’s certainly an exciting time for those that loved the classic. Me. I’m excited.

Micro Machines World Series will arrive on the 21st April 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
