2Dark Releases Story Trailer, Shows Dark Tone of Game

GloomyWood have pushed a story trailer for their upcoming 2D survival horror game, 2Dark. It looks…dark.

2Dark tells the story of a series of kidnappings that have taken place, young children are going missing. Mr. Smith, the protagonist who has seen his wife slain and his own children taken, he takes action and goes to put a stop to the kidnappings.

With Alone in the Dark creator, Frédérick Raynal on board, this game certainly shares that Alone in the Dark feeling, both in terms of lighting through the trailer, and the character, Mr. Smith’s style looking similar to Edward Carnby.

The game is a 2D, top-down game and has a pixel and voxels style going on. Players will face various serial killers in various lairs, and your goal is to save all the children and take out the serial killers. Not an easy feat though as you have to literally look after the children. If you hang around too long, their children will start to panic and cry, bringing attention to your area, ruining your sneaking around.

Features of the game include

  • Innovative technology mixes 2.5D views and voxel-based characters with a unique animation system.
  • Ten levels to play with a shudder… An unrelenting gaming experience, with some serious challenges!
  • Perfect your plan to infiltrate intricately handcrafted levels and escape with the children.
  • A nerve-wracking experience of ruthless consequences with only your wits to guide you.
  • Stick to the shadows and step carefully. Light and sound can be your allies, and your undoing.
  • Supplies are limited. From flashlight batteries to bullets, make every item count.
  • Investigate every nook and cranny to expose the sinister secrets behind the abductions, uncover new areas, and find every child.
  • Kids will be kids. Stop for too long and they’ll fidget and cry, putting both of you in harm’s way.
  • Break for a smoke to save your progress, but be wary of noisy coughing fits, and remember, smoking really does kill.

There’s no confirmed date for release, but it is  coming soon to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
