Dear Esther: Landmark Edition Launches Tomorrow On PC, Free For Original Owners

Dear Esther: Landmark Edition is heading to PC tomorrow, and it will be free to download if you own the original.

Dear Esther, developer by The Chinese Room, started its journey as a mod before being noticed by an environmentalist artist from DICE. That bloke was Rob Briscoe. 2012 came and the game was fully released, bringing a new type of genre to players, and running on Valve’s Source engine just like it was in its mod state, however, tweaked and looking fantastic.

The Dear Esther: Landmark Edition basically moves the game away from the Source engine and brings it to the Unity engine. It will arrive on PC tomorrow, and anyone who owns the original can get the landmark edition for free. PlayStation owners will be able to get the dynamic theme totally free.

The game had launched on Xbox One, and PS4 consoles last year thanks to Curve Digital, and since then they have made over fifty thousand sales. There is also a time specific announcement coming from The Chinese Room tomorrow at 6pm GMT…apparently it’s exciting stuff.

Dann had covered the console version of Dear Esther: Landmark Edition and you can check out his thoughts here.
