Warhammer 40’000: Dark Heresy announces new character Laarthyr

Following on the back of Warhammer Skulls — the huge online Warhammer event that covers the all the new releases in the world of Warhammer — Owlcat Games has announced a new character joining the roster in their new cRPG Dark Heresy: Aeldari Corsair Laarthyr Cairnareth.

In case you aren’t familiar with Dark Heresy, here’s a quick rundown; you take control of several different races and members of the Inquisition within the Emperor’s service. Your job? Seek out and destroy heresy wherever it festers, especially in the grim dark future of 40k, there’s plenty of heresy to go around. Dark Heresy promises to bring us a story intensive experience and a look inside the Inquisition like we’ve not yet seen. Colour me excited; I love squishing heretics.

So what makes our new character Laarthyr so unique? Well to start with, he’s what the Emperor and his forces would consider a xeno — essentially, he’s not human, so by definition, he’s already a heretic, right? Well, yes and no. Laarthyr was once bound to his Craftworld, but decided to buck tradition and left for a life of freedom among the stars. Now, he’s leaving that life behind too in pursuit of a mission that borders on the suicidal. Just your typical Friday in the world of 40k then, it seems.

Laarthyr brings a new unique skill set to the Inquisition: as an exceptionally strong pskyer, he has plenty of strong and powerful psychic abilities that he can extend to the other members in your party. As well as this, he has extensive knowledge of the Warp and can use it to amplify his attacks and find his enemies weak spots.

If you don’t mind being branded a radical, Laarthyr is currently available for you to recruit to your team during Dark Heresy‘s closed beta, which is currently available to anyone who bought themselves the Founders pack.

Dark Heresy will be available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC
