Brain&Brain have released a physical version of their book, and it’s a grand mystery that is finally explained.
Burly Men at Sea is a title that follows the adventure of three burly fishermen on an adventure that can lead to various outcomes depending on choices taken. In fact Jorge, our man on American soil ran a review on the title. You can read it here.
Brain&Brain are now pushing the book out, and with more detail. Jorge mentioned in his review that the game ends with a code being given too you, and then once you pop that code into the linked URL you’re offered to “buy a book” related to the game.However there wasn’t much information about the book and it turns out the idea was to remain a mystery…until now.
“Each time you wrap up a journey you complete a “book” that comes with a code, once you collect all the books the game refers you to the website. The code can be put into the website and reveals some sort of book that you can actually physically purchase.” – Jorge (Big Boss Battle)
Basically, every story that is in Burly Men at Sea has been assigned a number, once entered on the burlymenatsea.com/mystery website page it unlocks hidden treasures and which would be the code that Jorge mentioned. This code is linked up to a physical printed book that tells the story of that particular playthrough. This makes more sense why every scenario normally leads back to the same areas as Jorge said,
the game is a branching repetitive narrative experience. What that basically means is that certain scenarios play out in order but the outcomes can be different; which lead to other preset scenarios and then more different outcomes depending on your actions. The writing adapts to previously made decisions, as the brothers are fully aware that the adventures they are having are happening over and over again. – Jorge (Big Boss Battle)
