Tacoma, From Gone Home Creators, Launching on Xbox On, PC in August; Trailer Within

Announced at last year’s E3, Tacoma offered a curious space-ship exploration journey in which only the hologram echoes of the former crew could tell the story.

An odd pitch, for certain, however this is from Fullbright, the creators of Gone Home; if anybody can convey a linear, twisting-story through inanimate objects and voice recordings alone then it’s them. Gone Home, after all, compelled the masses and received critical acclaim even though a classic elevator pitch would have undoubtibly failed – protagonist returns home from time away, everybody is gone, she explores the house learning about where they are, and the history of their family.

Speak to almost anybody who played however and the game will be spoken of with the highest regards; at times puzzling, at others it had atmosphere so thick you could cut it. A solid, story-driven game which only further boosted the popularity of the increasingly popular Narrative Exploration genre. (Or, walking sim, if you wish).

As the lede said, the game was originally announced back in 2016, and expected to launch then, however it underwent some delays which certainly left people wondering what had happened with the project. Despite this, it was extremely surprising when it appeared up there on the big screen during Microsoft’s pre-E3 conference this year.

The game, which sees you tracing back the events which resulted in the Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma being left, floating and seemingly devoid of crew, appeared in a highly detailed, 4K trailer.

As it turns out, Tacoma will be launching on Xbox One & PC ahead of the PS4; with the initial release taking place on the 2nd of August this year.
