Nintendo’s New 2DS XL Console and Two Launch Day Titles to Launch This July

Nintendo announced that their new 2DS XL console will be launching this July, and there are two titles launching on the same day.

The new 2DS XL moves on from the previous 2DS of which resembled a door wedge shape, and couldn’t fold like the 3DS consoles can. The new 2DS XL console can fold however, and will be available to purchase in black with turquoise detailing and buttons with a clamshell design. The screen size will the the same as the newer 3DS XL screens, and will only display 2D images. The top screen sits at 4.88 inches with the bottom at 4.18 inches.

It’s also said to be lighter than the 3DS XL and has stereo speakers. It will support amiboo cards and figures, something the original 2DS didn’t support, and it can play the 3DS, New 3DS XL, and Nintendo DS games.

The two new titles that are arriving on the same day the 2DS XL console launches are, Miitopia, and Hey! PIKMIN.

Miitopia is a more fancy, flashy version of the fun, Streetpass Quest title, originally only launched in Japan, it’s making it’s way overseas now and sees players take a more JRPG style approach to combat, and relationships between characters build and fall throughout the game as they go on a quest to reclaim the stolen faces off several Mii’s.

Hey! PIKMIN will be bringing the cute little creatures to the console in a side-scrolling adventure. It was announced during the Nintendo Direct event and looks like an adventure and a half with Captain Olimar collecting “Sparklium” to refuel his crashed ship. It’ll also have amiboo’s available allowing the player to call in a backup Pikmin.

Miitopia, Hey! PIKMIN, and the Nintendo 2DS XL console will all be launching on July the 28th 2017.
