Drop Your Boxes, Xbox One Gets Dropbox App

Dropbox have now got an app for the Xbox One console.

Dropbox have been around for a long time, making it easier for students to transfer notes, businessmen sending important files, and acting as peoples cloud hard drives. Now they’re here for the console gamer.

Users will find that they can now access their files from the comfort of their console. The main use of this has been designed so that players can access their files without the need for a HDMI cord, or to connect up their laptops. You can upload screenshots and any pictures taken with the Kinect straight away, you may also want to upload files from USB devices, and you may want to stream any video files you have stored on your Dropbox. If you have any other Windows 10 apps on your console, you can also upload files from them.

Apparently there has been quite a demand for this type of functionality, and they certainly listened.

The Dropbox app is now available for Xbox One users. A quick recap for those that like lists, here’s a bullet list from the Dropbox blog.

  • Manage all of your files with a new interface optimized for TVs, using a gamepad or media remote
  • Upload and comment on files, and easily share them with friends
