Downward Coming To Early Access, Trailer And Gameplay Video Released

Downward, an upcoming parkour game set in a post-apocalyptic setting has flipped out a new trailer.

Caracal Games, the minds behind the game pushed out the trailer on the 9th December on their YouTube channel. The trailer below shows suspended elements of the world, hovering in the sky, a world built in the Unreal Engine, and shows many gaps, ledges, and climbable elements across a variety of terrains. We also see some gameplay footage of the parkour taking the crown in this trailer, and even seeing some type of magical elements taking place to aid you in your jumping about; the trailer ends on a few shots of some type of tall creatures attacking the player before announcing that the game is now available on Early Access.

Caracal Games are hoping for a 6 month stint in Early Access, hopefully pushing the game out in June 2017. They state that the Early Access version of the game can bring at least 3 hours of gameplay, but say that the final build they plan to bring,

  • Additional areas to explore
  • Comprehensive storyline and campaign
  • More NPCs populating the game world
  • Extend the adventure with sidequests
  • Augment the power-ups

They have also pushed out a gameplay video (Seen below) showing 2 minutes of the basic of parkour in action, showing off the actions, and the world surrounding yourself.

Downward will feature parkour to get around the destroyed lands of the world, and allow players to explore the open world and uncover lore and secrets. You’ll be able to level up your characters skills and use a “Metaphysical” slingshot, although I prefer the term “MAGIC POWERS!”. You will also be able to “command the sky” enabling you to change gravity, summon floods, rise the temperature. If you don’t wish to follow the story and just want to relax, then you can access meditate mode and practise parkour freely.

Downward is available on early access on the 19th December.
