Number One For GTA V, Now Among The Only Five Titles To Achieve Twelve Or More Number Ones In The UK

Grand Theft Auto V is once again back at #1 on the UK charts making it one of the five titles to manage twelve weeks at the top.

The following statistics are taken from retail sales and not downloaded sales.

In what is an incredible achievement, GTA V is back at the top of the UK charts this week for it’s third time in the number one place this year alone. It has achieved the number one position for a total of twelve weeks since it was released in 2013. There have only ever been five titles that have managed to sit at the top of the charts for twelve or more weeks, GTA V is one of them. The other titles are Zumba Fitness which sat at number one for thirteen weeks, Wii Fit at sixteen weeks, and the highest being Who Wants To Be A Millionaire at eighteen weeks.

Last week saw Hitman: The Complete First Season go from number five to number eight as it only saw half of its launch sales in its second week. This week though, Watch Dogs 2 saw an 8% boost putting it up at number ten, with Overwatch landing at number nine, and Battlefield 1 hitting at number six.

GTA V took over Resident Evil VII’s near number one hat trick by gaining a 1% rise in sales, while Resident Evil saw a 45% drop in sales pushing it down the number three in the charts, with the newly released, Nioh being the highest earner of the week sitting at number two.

The charts top five for this week is as follows.

  3. Resident Evil VII: Biohazard
  4. FIFA 17
  5. Call of Duty: Infinite
