PokemonXP and the 2026 World Championships took place over this weekend, and yet again we were treated to a string of announcements alongside the normal cacophony of dreams being realised whilst trainers clashed for their honour.
The first announcement I should cover (as a representative of a UK-based outlet) is the new teaser trailed for “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu”. Disney+ have got distribution rights for the Aardman produced animation. Aardman, of course of Wallace & Gromit (or Shaun the Sheep, depending on your age or taste) fame, is bring their trademark model and style to this absolutely gorgeous Pokemon story, set in Galar and following Sirfetch’d & Pichu as they get up to some classic child-friendly hijinks.

Speaking of models, LEGO released a tease for five new creatures coming in 2027, as well as showcasing some beautiful (and massive) community builds of Rayquaza and the Kanto starter trio. These five new sets were technically not fully revealed, but the silhouettes looked pretty close to Charcadet, Grookey, Mankey, Pichu, and Wingull. All five sets will be utilising the new Smart Brick system LEGO has been pretty heavily leaning on this year.
In card and video game news, we had a few smaller announcements. The physical card game got some card reveals, including the introduction of some of the Z Mega Evolutions we recently saw in Pokemon Legends Z-A. The digital card game (well, TCG Pocket specifically) will have dual-type cards introduced in October, coming in the next booster set.
Also speaking of TCG, “Pokemon: Wild Card” was announced as a new feature-length animation. Slated for early 2027, it follows a TCG player and a Mimikyu, and will be produced by CloverWorks (a name that should be familiar to many anime fans as one of Japan’s top studios).
Those of you playing Pokemon UNITE have four new monsters announced to be joining the roster (Morpeko, Toxtricity, Jolteon, and Flareon), though we didn’t get a full look at their loadouts yet. Pokemon Champions also got a mention, with the Z Mega Evolutions landing in the next series update too!

In physical event news, the 2027 Pokemon World Championships are going to be hosted in Singapore next year at Singapore EXPO!
More details on everything mentioned here will follow up in future, and I’m sure we are all begging for Nintendo to release another Pokemon Direct with some more breadcrumbs regarding Winds and Waves.
