Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Eradication pack sprinkles heavy hitters across every faction
Bringing in the tough guys.
Just when you think Gladius can’t get any better, Slitherine releases a new ‘hitman pack’ (that’s how I see it anyway) in the Eradication Pack.
The main thing that the fantastic Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Eradication Pack adds to the game are various power-units for some of the different factions. Every time they add more units, it obviously makes the game that much better (he says with arms wide, like an excited kid would). I’m going to briefly journey through them and see what comes out on the other side of the wire-strewn planet that gives the game its name.
First, the Space Marines get the Thunderhawk Gunship. This is a weaponized heavy air assault and transport. Move your units forward, move the enemy’s back. There are multiple capabilities for this beast… in both atmosphere and in space.
The Necrons get the Seraptek Heavy Construct, which reminds me of a super-heavy stomper which is also basically, a walking artillery. Noice. Agile and heavy, they terrorize all with their ability to “disintegrate organic and mechanical matter at any scale”.
Then, Astra Militarum gets the Armoured Sentinel. For me, it feels like an Advanced, Advanced Sentinel with more armor and firepower, to be used in a support role. However, this early in, I’m going to have to use them as offensive units for a bit (along with the heavy weapons squads). Can’t wait to unleash these puppies all across the surface of the foreboding world.
The Orks acquire the Wazbom Blastajet — a tight formation ground attack (experimental) aircraft. Heavily weaponized, the pilots (Mekboyz) have made a game of who can beat each other to do the most dastardly of blowing enemies up. Gnarly stuff.
The Tyranids of Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Eradication pack get Harpies (yes, the HarRpies). Wicked, flying monsters which drop spore mines… then explode. No other faction can build defenses (fighter aircraft) good enough to stop them.
The Chaos Space Marines get an incredibly loud and offensive (pun intended) unit: Noise Marines. They take over a war zone with extremely psychosonic, brain-numbing bursts of shrill noise… and, unfortunately for their foes, at a distance.
Our penultimate attacker is Craftworld Aeldari’s – Warp Spiders. These are “Jetpack infantry specialized in hit-and-run tactics.” They are the personification of ‘aggressive defense’. They are among the boldest of units on the battlefield. They use jump generators to harm the enemy before fading away in an instant.
Finally are the Adepta Sororitas’ Celestian Insidiants. These are an infantry threat that uses anti-psyker gear… in addition to heavy maces and ‘condemnor bolt pistols’ which fire Chosen silver stakes. They are used to track down and kill enemies using null generators.
These eight additions make an already great game even better. If it didn’t, I’d say so. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Eradication pack is a fantastic increase to playability, maneuvering, and, especially, strategic concerns and new thought processes… for both offense and defense (regardless of what the unit’s ‘meant’ for.
