Undead Labs Discuss State of Decay 2 at PAX East 2017

State of Decay 2 has been a rather quiet title, sitting in the shadows. But during PAX East 2017, Gamespot landed an interview with Undead Labs where they gave some more details about the zombie survival sequel.

Jeff Strain, CEO at Undead Labs shared an interview with Gamespot at this years PAX event, and while the title was only announced last year, the content is sounding fairly big.

The title looks to be making players feel like the world is even harsher than the previous game with Strain saying that if players die it’s their own fault,

“The way that works is we have a contract with players, and that contract is: “If you die, it’s your fault.” It’s not the game throwing some random thing at you. You have all the tools at your disposal to see the threat, to make your own decisions, and if you die, we want you coming away from it thinking, “Ah, if only I’d done X or Y!” Or, “Here’s where I made the mistake or stayed out too long.”

There is also a four player co-op system in place now. Gamespot wondered if this would bring competitive multiplayer to the title, but Strain states that there won’t be any competitive elements. The map size is said to be four times as large as the previous titles, and from various online sources and forums, it seems the previous title sat at 16 kilometers.

State of Decay 2 is planned for a PC and Xbox One release and will support Xbox Play Anywhere, so players can purchase it on one platform and have digital access to the other. Project Scorpio support will be discussed at E3 apparently.
