Shenmue 3 Delayed, Apparently Arriving For Second Half of 2018
Shenmue III is being delayed as stated in a video message from Yu Suzuki as part of a Kickstarter update.
The original game began its journey in 1999, and then the sequel came in 2001. Now the title is to be returning, developed by Ys Net and successfully funded on Kickstarter. It raised a stunning, $6,333,295 to bring it to life over their original $2,000,000 goal, but it appears that production has delayed the product. The last target was set for the 2017 holiday season.
In this video, you can see project director, Yu Suzuki discussing the situation, stating that they’ve been learning new possibilities and in turn have ended up making the game bigger, and more beautiful. So really, while it’s an annoying delay, it sounds like it’s going to be worth the wait.
The title is expected to be released both digitally and physically for PS4, and PC.
