NieR: Automata Will Not Be Coming To Xbox, But We Knew That Anyway
NieR: Automata will not be launching on the Xbox One console despite the original NieR being released on the Xbox 360 back in 2010.
Both Square Enix and Platinum Games have stated that they have no plans to release NieR: Automata to the Xbox consoles. Yosuke Saito has explained that the reasoning for this is because the Xbox market in Japan isn’t as strong as the PlayStation and PC market is.
“The main reason for this is that the Japanese market for Xbox One is not strong, so the decision was made to focus on PlayStation 4 rather than to split our efforts across two platforms.” – Yosuke Saito
He also stated that due to focusing efforts on the two platforms, they can improve the overall quality of the game thanks to not shuffling about between two consoles and a PC build.
While it’s nice to have confirmation from the official source, it’s also a little bit of an obvious move seeing as they have been stating for months that they are releasing on PS4 and PS4 Pro and then a PC build later on. No Xbox details have ever been released, but like I say, it’s nice to hear confirmation that there will not be a Xbox build.
Having said that though, I would expect a future Xbox port to arrive in a years time or so if the Japanese market for Xbox increases. But for now, it is a no no.
