Title: Thick Air
Developer: People Gotta Play
[Greenlight Page]
What type of game is it?
Racing
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Thick Air brings flight simulator style tightness of control to a rally-like aerial drone racing game.
What do we like most about it?
The controls for the game look quite smooth, and while we’ve not seen too much of the pitch and yaw that you’d expect to be in a game explained as Thick Air has been, the developer has assured that they are included. Another thing that can be observed if the video is carefully watched, is that each of the vechiles handles differently; some bulkier but reaching higher speeds, while others manoeuvre better and take corners a lot cleaner.
What really, really, stands out to me however is the highly detailed race tracks, and the clear use of elevation that the AI has. Indeed, at times they can be seen to simply cut corners above the walls of the chasm, hindering their bearings and probably losing them some speed, but trimming down awkward turnings… and that is pretty dang cool.
Oh, and it’ll have Oculus and HTC visual support, as well as flight-stick and HOTAs support for controls.
When’s it due?
Thick Air is currently set to launch into Early Access in September 2016, with a full release to follow in early 2017. At the moment it is only planned for launch on Windows PC.
