Title: Lost Maze
Developer: Lemon Jam / Joy Wave Games
[Greenlight Page]
What type of game is it?
Puzzle
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Misty is trying to find her way home, can you rotate the cylindrical world in time to secure safe passage for her, and keep her safe from the monsters?
What do we like most about it?
The whole twisting cylinder puzzle idea seems extremely novel and new; while some might dismiss it as a spin-off of other lane progression games like Froggy, we have to remember that aesthetic and design choices -like we have on show here- can really reinvigorate a classic design, and breath a new life into old mechanics.
Do I think Lost Maze does that? Yes, I do. Although I must state that it does seem to be somewhat lacking in the level variety from what has been seen – there is hopefully potential for extra content with a cylinder with more sides, or an even vaster selection of biomes.
It’s also going to be interesting to see how the developers get the game working on the PC’s mouse & keyboard, or controller; as translating touch to more traditional controls has been a problem for many developers in the past, and can kill a solid mechanic.
When’s it due?
Lost Maze is already released on iOS & Android devices, and the developers have stated they are already working on porting the game across to Windows PC, so realistically we shouldn’t have too long to wait following the game being greenlit.
