Greenlight Highlight | Dead of Day
Title: Dead of Day
Developer: Trebuchet Games
[Greenlight Page]
What type of game is it?
Horror RPG with large, deep strategy overlay.
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Survive against the dead by building up your safehouse, while going on forays into infested homes during the day looking for loot.
What do we like most about it?
At first I thought this game might be a quick dip into Zafehouse: Diaries style of building an overlay that told the entire game through narrative. While the game certainly has a lot of similarities, its base building and defense sees a lot deeper; its inventory system is a lot more in depth, and its battle system is completely different. In fact, it’s that battle system that got the game featured here.
Each of the various environments you (and five other survivors) can explore are laid out on a grid, with you navigating using a Wizardry-esque interface of clicking in a direction to move in that direction by a pane. All combat is turn-based, and each area is laid out differently.
Having seen the sheer size of the inventory screen, and this interesting throwback to the RPG system that birthed a massive change in games, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing Dead of Day when it launches later this year.
When’s it due?
Dead of Day is currently listed for a Late 2016 release date. At the moment it is only listed for release for Windows PCs.
