VR Exploration Adventure
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Dead Bug Creek is filled with mysteries. Not just those of it’s quirky residents, but also hidden in the mines and caverns that extend below the dusty, old town.
What do we like most about it?
There’s a very satisfying Psychonauts vibe to the game through it’s twisting and misshapen surroundings, characters and objects. That said, the strange 60’s sci-fi elements present in the trailer; your ship, P.W.O.P.P.L.E, and the UFO believers, all add another fantastic layer to the setting.
If anything, the only negative I can actually see to the game as it currently stands, is it’s dependency on VR. I’m certainly not a VR-sceptic, but I can simply not afford to commit to a device that will – even if successful – only be a stepping stone in the ever constant march of technology.
I sincerely hope the game does well, maybe even getting a non-VR version further down the line, and I am most definitely interested in seeing what California Rex work on in future.
When’s it due?
Dead Bug Creek is set to launch late this year for PC on unspecified VR devices.
