Far Cry 5, Everything Teased So Far, Teasers & Key Art Within, Reveal Tomorrow
Ubisoft teased a simple logo the other day for Far Cry 5, and since that reveal, there has been more information pushed out, with tomorrow being the biggest.
Far Cry 5 got its first teaser video which introduced the setting of the game, the setting being a fictional Hope County in Montana. The first teaser video shows a lovely pan across a fairly large lake, with the setting being revealed through on-screen text.
The second teaser shows a vast open world sprawling off into the distance, suddenly a man emerges from the bottom left, running towards the distance in a hurry before an impact hit renders him falling to the ground lifeless.
The third teaser does a swooping flyover a church situated in the country, as the camera grows nearer to the bell tower, we can see a man bashing another mans face into the bell. Grim.
The fourth teaser that was launched shows a huge woodlands, suddenly disturbed by a gunshot, cue the flock of birds flapping away in terror.
The key art for the title was also revealed, and shows a lot of information within the title. Over the years, Far Cry have shown the antagonist in the centre of the art. We’ve seen Far Cry 3 showing Vaas, Far Cry 4 showing Pagan Min, and now Far Cry 5 is showing off a new antagonist.
Key art shows that there seems to be a modern setting, with religious elements tied up into it. The antagonist is clear, sitting central with two groups of people and a wolf surrounding him as he shows off his table that is covered in a US flag with weapons and what I would imagine would be a Bible given that there’s a church directly behind them, a man with “Sinner” scribbled across his back, and the unnamed antagonist looks to be wearing a black collar.
Also shown in the key art is a few weapons, mostly explosives, but we can see a return of the bow weapon, and in the background there are planes, whether this means that we’ll be able to take to the skies in a way that isn’t a hang-glider is still yet to be seen. Have a look at the key art yourself.
Far Cry has always been known for its vast open worlds, and the amount of attention that Ubisoft have gone to, to show off the landscapes in the video teasers could quite possibly mean we’re looking at the biggest open world Far Cry title to date. Possible.
There hasn’t been a release date yet, but that will either be announced tomorrow or during E3. Previous versions have been released in November, with Far Cry 3 arriving in November 2012, and Far Cry 4 being released in November 2014. Far Cry Primal broke the pattern by releasing in February 2016, but the way I see it, Primal should have been the 5th Far Cry title, but they chose not to run it as Far Cry 5, instead we got Primal which comes across like a spin-off title now that the 5th title has been announced. Thoughts?
The worldwide reveal will take place tomorrow, on the 26th of May 2017, at 2PM BST. The website has a countdown timer on it.
