E3 2017 | Destiny 2 Release Date Revealed, Exclusive Content, & More Detailed
Destiny 2: Our Darkest Hour got a wonderful reveal trailer, wonderful enough to have gotten fans of the original title giddy and grinning ear-to-ear.
A world without light befalls the players of Bungie’s upcoming title Destiny 2, the sequel to the original title. The Red Legion launched a brutal attack on humanity’s Last City and left the Guardians powerless. The player, the protagonist, must rise up and defeat Ghaul and restore light to the planet.
The trailer that was launched at this years E3 2017 can be viewed below and focuses on the story element. However, we also got to see a Gameplay interview. Fourteen minutes of Destiny 2 gameplay and conversation. Get some popcorn.
Destiny 2 will feature a campaign mode, taking players through the story, with side-missions being available to level up and gain loot, and all while joining up with other Guardians, and getting your gear ready for the next adventure. There is a cooperative multiplayer mode as well that will feature, Strikes, a mode where up to three players are to infiltrate an enemy stronghold and eliminate all enemies. Raids will see up to six players taking on enemies as they push through and earn prestigious weapons, gear, and accomplishments. Clans and Guided Games are another mode in which players gain rewards and experience for completing certain activities with other members of the same team.
There will also be a competitive multiplayer mode featuring 4v4 battles against other players. Players can configure Hunter, Titan, and Warlock armour to their liking, and take control of their own powers unique to their subclass. Hunter subclasses can activate, “Arcstrider”, a magical staff that becomes a deadly weapon to melee your way through battle. Titan subclasses can activate, “Sentinel” a void shield that protects allies. Warlock subclasses have “Dawnblade”, an ability that brings a solar sword into play, using it from the skies, players can scorch their opponents below.
Weapons come as kinetic, power, and energy weapons, kinetic being similar to modern weapons, power being weapons that take the Guardian’s hyper lethal firepower, and Energy weapons harness Solar, Arc, or Void power.
There was also a PS4 Exclusive Trailer that brings an exclusive Strike mission titled, “Lake of Shadows”. An exclusive Crucible map will be available too, “Retribution” set in the Upper Stratosphere on Mars. Players will also be able to get their hands on a new, Borealis weapon, able to swap between damage types at will. Titan, Hunter, and Warlock subclasses will get exclusive gear sets, and an exclusive “City Apex” ship.
The game is available to pre-order, and there is a Digital Deluxe Edition that includes,
- Base Game
- Expansion Pass that gives access to both Expansion I and Expansion II, offering brand new story missions, cooperative activities, competitive multiplayer, and a wealth of new weapons, armour, and gear.
- Premium Digital Content with a Legendary Sword, Legendary Player Emote, and a Cabal Empire Themed Emblem

Players that pre-order will also gain early Beta access, with the following dates seeing the beta access going live.
- PS4: July 18th 2017 (Non pre-order beta date: July 21st 2017)
- Xbox One: July 19th 2017 (Non pre-order beta date: July 21st 2017)
PC will get a beta beginning in late August. However, these dates are subject to change.
The title is due to launch on the 6th of September and will be arriving for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release being launched on the 24th of October.
