“V.H.S: Video Horror Story” Brings VHS Style FPS Horror To Players
V.H.S, a horror game where players play through the lens of an olden day video camera recording to tape with the option to flick between viewing the environment or viewing creatures is available to download for free.
Created as part of Global Game Jam ’17, V.H.S was created by Julien Metzger, Pierre Brouchet, Swann Klein, Antoine Bordes, Antoine Eschenbrenner, and Aurélien Monter. It runs on the Unity engine and is playable with the Xbox Controller or a keyboard and mouse.
The idea is that the game is played through the lens of an VHS camera, meaning that you can expect to see plenty of distortion, signal issues, white noise, and jittering going on. There are two view modes, the view in which you can see the world as normal with a standard on board flashlight, and the view where you can see creatures as a block of white noise.
The game can be downloaded from the itch.io page, or from the Global Game Jam page for free.
