Try Overwatch for Free Next Weekend

Blizzard has announced that they will host another free weekend event for Overwatch next week on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

If you have always wanted to try out the team-based multiplayer online first-person shooter, now is your chance to try it for free. The Overwatch Free Weekend event begins on Friday 22nd September at 7pm BST and runs until Monday 26th September at 07:59am BST – so there should be plenty of time for you to try out all 25 heroes, 4 game modes and 16 maps!

Free players can also earn Loot Boxes, level up and unlock customisation options during this time – and they will be able to keep their progress if they decide to buy Overwatch following the trial.

Overwatch was released in May last year, and has won multiple awards since then, including being awarded Game of the Year at The Game Awards, D.I.C.E. Awards, and Game Developers Choice Awards. It has also been recognised as an eSport, with professional leagues and tournament events. Players are assigned into two teams of six, and can choose from the roster of 25 heroes to play. It’s designed to encourage cooperative play, securing various locations across the map or escorting a payload across the map in a limited amount of time. Blizzard has also recently launched Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch game modes in Overwatch Arcade.

Overwatch is available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. PS4 owners must have a PlayStation Plus subscription and Xbox One players must have Live Gold membership to be able to take advantage of the free trial. If you’re playing on PC, you need to have one of Blizzard‘s Battle.net accounts and launcher to play – these accounts can be created for free on Blizzard’s website here if you don’t have one.
