Seablip charts course with Captain Battle Update out now

0

Seablip is a pirate-themed RPG that came out two years ago, and to celebrate the anniversary they have just released their biggest gameplay expansion yet; the Captain Battle Update. It’s out now, on Steam.

We previously previewed Seablip:

“Most of your time will be spent at sea, playing out bite sized ‘room-based’ real-time combat where you move your crew between rooms on your ship and target parts of the enemy ship. It plays out quickly, and it does make the underlying RPG mechanics feel well implemented. You might focus a crew member on gunning, or repairing, and you might upgrade your ship to have more weapons or a healing chamber should your squishier crew get clipped by a cannon. The latter is a great idea, and not wholly dissimilar to FTL’s medbay, because when your crew die, they’re out of action until you summon them (for the same price as hiring them) from the undead realms of Whalgrim.”

Seablip injects pure adventure into a sailing sandbox

The Captain Battle Update features a bunch of new content, including a new combat system, unique weapon abilities, and fresh content across the open seas. The Captain Duel system has a questline that challenges players to defeat 10 mysterious Galleon Guard bosses! Players can now also battle rival captains using 17 unique swords (that each feature their own special attack abilities) while crew members throw health, armour, spell books and other useful items to take advantage of during the right. Enemy captains can also grab these items, adding for a bit of chaos to these pirate battles.

Outside of the questlines that have been added with the Captain Battle Update, enemy encountered during normal ship battles can challenge players to Captain Duels instead of traditional ship fights, with each enemy faction using their own unique abilities, tactics and ship layouts.

There are new Enemy Fleet battles, tasking players with taking down multiple enemy ships, back to back without pause! Additionally, Seablip now has full controller support, along with new music tracks, expanded world events, and additional sound effects.
