IKEA has teamed up with Xbox to launch home gaming collection
As it turns out everyone is having an anniversary this year, and that includes Xbox! So, as part of the celebrations they’ve teamed up with IKEA to launch a home design range featuring nine different pieces that are aimed more at adults (instead of teens). The range is called YXSTABY.
This is IKEA’s first ever gaming collection as well, so it’s very interesting! The YXSTABY collection will be both in UK stores and online from October 1st, giving everyone a chance to see all of these green and white items. These items were featured at Gamescom, in the massive Xbox area, giving gamers are first look.
Many of the items are purely functional like tv stands and little carrying boxes that hold things. Other items, like the X pillow and the stool( which looks a bit like a thumbstick) feel more playful and actually inspired by Xbox. Many of these pieces are very functional, like a chair with a removable cover and headrest. It’s neat to see them all looking much more adult too, instead of something that you might find in a young child’s room.
I do like the amount of storage in a lot of these items, with a tool-box looking computer stand, which has an area under for controllers, or the side table that opens up to review charging areas for your devices. There’s even a TV stand that can be rolled into a room, featuring hooks on the back for headsets and a tray for your Xbox and controllers. It is clever, that’s for sure.
It will be interesting to see how popular the YXSTABY is and if IKEA will be doing future gaming collaborations, that aren’t just aimed at younger children.
