What type of game is it?
Turn Based Strategy
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Carefully plan your attacks as you attempt to sweep and capture the battlefield in this Advance Wars inspired turn-based-strategy game with cute visuals, and an interesting action point system.
What do we like most about it?
Tiny Metal completely pinpoints the ease of access and balance of Advance Wars, while also changing up the systems of the game so that all attacks are run in the same map view system, and also changing up things like Fog of War and how unit types work.
It’s the change of action points that really interests me, units which don’t move have more effective line of sight and benefit from extra energy the following turns, meaning that moving forward at a steady, careful pace is rewarded over simply forming a rolling carpet of units.
The way unit types are being handled is interesting as well, with there only being four core units which are then given upgrades to make them into the different types that we would normally see in other games. This should make for an interesting selection of units to choose from throughout the campaign.
I’m hoping that the Kickstarter campaign does well, and that one of the stretch goals is for a multiplayer mode.
When’s it due?
Tiny Metal is currently heading through Kickstarter where it is targeting a June 2017 release for Windows PC, Mac & Linux
