What type of game is it?

On Rails VR Shooter

What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?

It’s an entire game built around those amazing turret mounted escape sequences that seemed to crop up frequently in games back in the 90’s.

What do we like most about it?

Metal Gear Solid, BulletStorm, Spec Ops: The Line, Metro 2033, Farcry 3, Uncharted, Grand The… There’s a long list of recent, and older, titles that have on-the-rails scripted sections where you have to fight off ridiculous numbers of enemies, and normally humongous boss enemies, all while being dragged ineffectively away from them. These sections are a bit divisive, and normally appear for no reason other than to avoid a fade-to-black, or slightly more unrealistic section where you single-handedly kill a small army without altering your ammo counts.

Adore them or hate them, a game built from the ground up to revolve around them, with a Time Crisis style cover system could be really interesting – and that is what Thirst is.

Now, what it does need is some story elements. But, VR is in early -formative- days and with Steam’s open doors policy towards it people aren’t going to have to push through just yet – in time they will, and in time games like this will have comrades around you, landmarks passing by, and an actually traceable end destination.

When’s it due?

Thirst is ready for launch now, and greenlight. It will launch on Windows PC soon.
