Greenlight Highlight | Project Abyss
Title: Project Abyss
Developer: Tall Story Studios
[Greenlight Page]
What type of game is it?
2D Adventure RPG
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
You are a submarine captain, exploring the depths of a ruined, poisoned -yet beautiful- oceanic paradise. Face off giant enemies, scavenge wrecks, and upgrade your ship in order to fully explore the dangerous depths of this underwater eden.
What do we like most about it?
The art and design of the game immediately reminded me of the fantastic The Aquatic Adventures of the Last Human (which we reviewed earlier this year) and it’s definitely not due just to the setting, but also to the amazing depth of view afforded by layers upon layers of background art.
Project Abyss however, adds an RPG system where in you choose your own upgrades from a selection of thirty options split over three progression trees by using cash scavenged from wrecks. It also adds a hot-bar for shifting between different weapons tyes, and a day-night cycle that massively alters the environments you are moving around within.
There’s a Windows demo available over the greenlight page. So, if this sounds like your cup of tea, then go give it a look-see.
When’s it due?
Project Abyss is currently listed as ready for an October/November release date, it is planned to release for Windows PC & Mac, with a planned Linux release to follow.
