What type of game is it?
Multiplayer Fantasy Dungeon Arena
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Combine a four player dungeon crawl with a winner-takes-all battle royale and you’ve got a game that’s actually closer to the textbook definition of a MOBA; and with an interesting, quirky mix of characters and a massive selection of levels.
What do we like most about it?
The game actually looks like it would be fun had it been built simply as a multiplayer arena game; instead that serves as a foundation for progression, customisation, and multiple-arena conflicts.
It’s also good to see that they are serious about the amount of characters in the game, there’s currently over ten heroes to choose from, although you will have to unlock some of those through playing or signing up for premium content. Hopefully there’ll be a much wider array of characters planned for the game (although 10 is a very impressive start) and we’ll really see a wide roster in the game as it goes on.
What else to say really? The art style is fantastic, even though the characters are in the pixel style they manage to have enough variation from design, and animation that those we’ve seen are easily identified as different. There’s also skins available for those characters, and they’ve got a wide variety of equipment. Basically, there’s a massive amount of content.
Obviously, the longer you work together the further you’ll likely get, something that’s especially important to consider what with the bosses laced through the game. When there’s six of you, and you’re competent then it’s likely a breeze. So when, and how, do you start chipping away at your comrades without it leaving you on the weaker foot afterwards? After all, there can only be one victor.
When’s it due?
Hunger Dungeon is listed for a Q4 release for PC, Mac & Linux.
