What type of game is it?
Racing
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
An online, multiplayer racing game with drop-in, drop-out play eased by leaderboards that operate on average lap times, best lap times, and best session times. All of this done in a charming, low-poly style with arcade controls.
What do we like most about it?
Low-poly, and Unity terrain style mapping are usually associated with low quality due to their ease of accessibility; Foreveracers takes both of these and does a really good job of it with carefully planned race layouts, brushed texturing, and good use of lighting.
Following a quick dabble with the demo (available on the Greenlight Page) I’m happy to report that the handling on the cars feels brilliant. The cars are top-heavy, and swing around like muscle cars in the recent GTAs, or the old beaten up saloons and business cars of GTAIV. A heavy-handling that I miss.
It will be interesting to see how many vehicles and tracks there are included in the final version. Even if the numbers come in low, there’s a few extra game modes planned, as well as vehicle destrucability — so there’s already plenty of things on offer to keep the lifespan of the game up.
When’s it due?
Foreveracers is currently listed for launch in early 2017, it is planned to release on Windows PC, Mac & Linux.
