Greenlight Highlight | Downspiral
Title: Downspiral
Developer: Hey it’s That Dog
[Greenlight Page]
What type of game is it?
First Person Dungeon Crawling RPG
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Wizardry meets wacky classes, races and monsters. Set your party members – maybe a Yeti, or a Land Dolphin – against a Pantergeist or possibly a notoriously happy purple dinosaur.
What do we like most about it?
Crazy character classes, ridiculous races, eccentric equipment descriptions, all while fighting your way through the descending ruins of a theme park? Honestly there’s really little not to like about the game. The art style does stand out, a game that could have stuck with the bare-minimum ‘voxel’ type art that we’ve seen occupy the genre of late, the team behind it haven’t, instead they’ve gone completely overboard on animations, and it looks brilliant.
The jazzy soundtrack is also extremely promising. Dungeon escapes can be terribly monotonous at times what with repeated textures and the grind of fighting through waves of enemies; a good soundtrack (and some good sound effects) could really shake that up.
When’s it due?
Downspiral is due to release at an unspecified point this year for Windows PC. It’s already greenlit at time of posting; so the waiting game begins!
