E3 2017 | Bugbear’s Wreckfest Celebrates Securing THQ Nordic as Publisher with Release of New Gameplay Trailer
Wreckfest has received a new trailer as publishers THQ Nordic announce they are now attached to Bugbear Entertainment’s destructive racing game.
Wreckfest, or Next Car Game as it was known before it’s 2014 name reveal, is a driving title which was built with physics, and realistic damage in mind. It’s got a long and storied history tracing back to Bugbear first announcing the title in 2013, just a year after they released Ridge Racer Unbounded for Bandai Namco. The game has been through many revisions, and has been living in early access since late that year -following an unsuccessful Kickstarter effort.
The game has received a strong following for challenge and stunt efforts made both by the developers and fans via Steam Workshop, as well as the promise of 24-player, destruction-loaded multiplayer for launch.
Despite the failed Kickstarter -which actually came to be following the rejection of the game pitch to publishers- THQ Nordic and Bugbear Entertainment have agreed to work together to finish the development of the title, and see it’s final release on both PC & Consoles.
Notably, THQ Nordic own the rights to the highly regarded Rally Trophy -which was Bugbear’s first title, originally launched back in 2001- having picked the IP up in their early acquisition of JoWood Production’s properties. A possible hint at future projects for the team at Bugbear.

Wreckfest is expected to launch for Windows PC, Xbox One & PS4 in Q4 or this year, or Q1 of next.
