BOOT | King Under The Mountain
Developers, Rocket Jump Technology have launched a Kickstarter for their title, King Under The Mountain. They have their sights set on a £45,000 goal for the settlement simulation game that looks to bring management strategy to life within a fantasy themed world.
Players will be able to harvest resources, build structures, craft items and furniture, and also manage the economy while also catering to each individual character who will have their own personalities and traits as they wander around the world that goes through seasons, trees and planets grow through the day/night cycles. Adventures are also a thing where players can send brave characters on-wards into dangerous dungeon crawls bringing combat to the game. Not only that but players will be able to visit other players settlements. The character personalities seems to be a big thing for King Under The Mountain, with personalities and traits either working for or against whatever role the person is assigned.
The settlements currently stand as three different races being available. Orcs, Dwarves, and Humans are the available options for now, however should stretch goals be reached, expect to see more races being added. Elves anyone!? The worlds are procedurally generated and will mean that players won’t find themselves bumping into the same world they’ve once walked…well, unless of course they type in the seed.
I mentioned that you can visit other players settlements, and this could bring forth worries that strangers can come along and start causing grief within other players settlements. Not the case because Rocket Jump Technology seem to be going for a system in which settlements are uploaded to the developers servers and then a copy is sent out to other players, meaning that the original settlement won’t be harmed should someone decide to destroy one of your copies.
Stretch Goals
Firstly, with each stretch goal milestone that is hit, Rocket Jump Technology will be including full translations for extra languages. However should a players language not be supported, the title has been built with modding in mind, so it will be incredibly easy for a modder to create a new translation.
Stretch goals start off at £65,000 and continue going up until £300,000, with perks ranging from a Shadow of Mordor inspired nemesis system, to a full copy of the soundtrack composed by Jordan Chin, and then various other goals bringing new characters and spectator modes.
There is a playable build available which can be found here. The build is incredibly early, so don’t expect to see a fully playable title, treat it as an interactive CV from the developer.
