BOOT | A Story of the End – Revere

A Story of the End – Revere is a title that has jumped onto Kickstarter with the plot being that it’s set as a classical JRPG with a story focused on redemption. The developer, Darrel Wijaya is looking for a $8,520 goal to help bring the project to life.

Currently, A Story of the End is sitting at $810 funded and has 22 days to go until the 24th April when the funding period ends. The title looks to grasp fans of the classical themed Japanese Role Playing Games with it’s top-down camera setting and turn based combat similar to those of Final Fantasy IV or Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.

The story is set within a world that has already ended, a world called Akhir. Troy, the protagonist the players take control of, is a traitor to his empire who after learning about their injustice retreated to unknown lands. Troy, on the search for redemption looks to overthrow the Lumerian Empire and  undo the wrongs they have caused.

With a hybrid battle system, players will be able to transition between a real time battle system, and a turn based battle system, with the former allowing players to build up energy and deal devastating attacks onto their opponents. All of the quests that will be littered around the world come with their own individual story lines. Interestingly, the game allows you to change up your encounter rate, meaning that you can play the game without bumping into enemies and taking part in battles, however EXP is required to progress, so while skipping most battles is an option, it’s probably best to not skip them all.

Players will also be able to upgrade their weapons, increasing various aspects, such as attack, magic, defence, etc; and with a crafting system allowing the creation of potions, modifying existing weapons and even…pebbles…this title looks to be bringing a huge amount of customisation. With over three-hundred levels to explore, with secrets to find, and the final title planning to bring fifteen hours of playtime with it’s interactive battle system, A Story of the End – Revere is looking to be a rather intriguing title.

The title plans to launch on PC and Mac, and has been successfully Greenlit and will be heading to Steam. So far there have been no stretch goal reveals except for the initial funding one at, $8,520, which ensures the games completion, meaning that I’m sure that any future stretch goals will be interesting extras rather than dropped features. 50% of the funding will be going towards art, so the game appears to be set to look astonishing.
