Developer: The Dragonloft
[Greenlight Page]
What type of game is it?
Turn-based Strategy RPG
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Ancient Greece has been cast into turmoil as the nation has been thrust forward into an industrial revolution and the ancient world struggles to adapt; warring states are now wielding enhancements and technology of great power.
What do we like most about it?
The perspective and pixel count of the game matches that of classic turn-based RPGs like Legend of Kartia, Vandal Hearts, and Tactics Ogre (KoL). Of course, it wasn’t just the artwork of these games that made them memorable, they are all notorious for their scale, ability and equipment selections, as well as a vast amount of content. Indeed, turn-based, grid-based games always rapidly burn away their fans hours faster than most other genres.
Interlace those genre tropes with a multiple-choice story split over several lifetimes, as well as a rich cast of historical characters twisted and changed by the major changes to the worlds technology and Hellenica looks like a game I can really get behind. Both the steampunk genre, and games set in the ancient world, are completely lacking at the moment, and while I would have never thought that this was the type of game that would be the one to do it, I’m very glad the devs have chosen to, because the game looks outstanding.
When’s it due?
Hellenica is currently listed for a release in Winter of 2016, it is being developed for a launch on Windows PC, Mac & Linux.
