‘Save Grenades Co. from horrible aliens! Battle by yourself or bring along up to [three] grenade-mad friends’
Back in January of last year, before B3 was a glint in the team’s eyes, 3..2..1..Grenades! (grammar not optional) caught my attention with it’s cheerful, wacky Greenlight pitch. Well, that game is finally out, having launched late yesterday on Valve’s platform.
Up to four players bumble about around a variety of locations, armed only with grenades and a variety of other explosives. Stylised visuals and a promise of couch multiplayer make the game seem like a missing gem from the XBOX Classic days; visuals reminiscent of 3D-platformers, and the chaos that came of custom weapon matches of Goldeneye, or Timesplitters.
The game contains an adventure mode, a mass of mutators, and a multitude of multiplayer modes. Notable favourites include Capture the Pug, Tennis, and Fallball; a mode where grenades destroy the ground, with the goal being not only avoiding death by grenade, but also death by rapid descent.
