Sushi Battle Rambunctiously demands you don’t become a zombie
Sushi Battle Rambunctiously is much like the title; where you and your friends play as Sushi, who battle around free to roam, single screen maps, trying not to die. There are tons of chunky, fun sushi characters to pick from, as well as different maps to explore.
The sushi characters are different types of nigiri, some with different fishes, although my personal favorite is the one with a clam shell that has eyes cut out of them! Once you have chosen your character, you and your friends can pick which level to play in. Some are traditional places where you’d find sushi; battle on a restaurant table or by one of those sushi conveyor belts, while others are a bit more out there.
You all can explore a park for example, or sit on the back of a moving car full of trash. Really, it’s up to you and which challenges you want to take on. In each level of Sushi Battle Rambunctiously, there are different objects you can pick up and throw at the other sushi’s, looking to deplete their lives so that they become a zombie sushi! Zombie sushi characters aren’t completely removed from the game, and can continue to move around attacking, but cannot win the actual round. The last one standing is, in fact, the winner.
I got the chance to play Sushi Battle Rambunctiously at GDC, on the show floor, where the vibes around the gameplay were super fun. If you’ve got a bunch of friends that all like battling and quick arena based games, this is another addition to your group and can bring a lot of fun!
Sushi Battle Rambunctiously is coming to Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Playstation and PC later this year.
