Reigns 2 is on the Way This Year; Free Expansion for First Title Due Before
During a recent interview, with The Nayshow at IndieCade, Reigns creator François Alliot confirmed that a sequel to the popular, choice-driven ruling game would be getting a sequel before the end of Q2 2017. He also confirmed that the original game would receive a free expansion prior to the release.
Reigns, for those who haven’t played it, is a game where you are dealt two cards (depended on what is going on) either with a different action that can be taken to resolve a current event or issue; players can then select one to proceed with. These events and actions are heavily branching, and follow the story of a cursed throne, as the player attempts to rule well, and lift the curse, over the generations. Regular comparisons saw it described as Tinder, a dating app which uses a similar selection mechanic, and CKII.
I spent some time with the game last year, completing a couple of playthroughs, but never failing to get the proper ending; I saw my country through wars both domestic and foreign, quests through dungeons, and also had some tidy chats with the devil. Casually.

Reigns is out now for iOS & Android, it’s also available on PC, Mac & Linux via Steam.
