Portal Knights Heading for Full Release; PS4 & Xbox One Versions Announced, Trailer’d

“Today is an incredibly exciting day for the team” started today’s announcement from developers Keen Games as they announced Portal Knights’ rapid approach to release, and the news that the game would be making its way to Xbox One & PS4 later this year.

I glanced away from the message and raised my han… Sorry, that happens sometimes.

Keen Games will be moving their game, currently version v 0.7.3, through several more updates between now and April 28th when the game is planned to leave early access. That date also happens to be the date that their fresh partnership with 505 Games will spring into action and see the title released on Xbox One & PS4 at retail in Europe.

North American’s will have to wait a little longer for the console release, with a staggered release date of May 2nd currently pidgeon-holed.

The game, for those unaware, has been in Early Access since February of last year. It’s a crafting and mining game where you can transition between various sandbox worlds using portals. It features an RPG class system, and also has massive bosses (Portal Guardians) which are best fought in the 4 person co-op multiplayer, although determined portal knights (I SAID THE NAME OF THE GAME!) might be able to best them.

There’s no pricing structure in place for the full game as of yet, although the PC version (currently £10.99) is expected to increase as the game leaves early access.~

Curious souls might find the answers to some of their questions in the new trailer, below, which was released alongside the news.
