Title: Super Spring Ninja
Developer: Demon Sword
[Greenlight Page]
What type of game is it?
Platformer
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Twitch platformer but you control the direction and power of the titular ninja’s jumps through a dragging mechanism.
What do we like most about it?
From the video it appears that the game has the difficulty vs. mechanic radio down perfectly. I’m a middling fan of the perfect-timing-platformer boom that happened when indie games became more mainstream, a lot of the modern attempts at the super-tight style are under-generous with timing or enemies in early levels, meaning players are rapidly hit with fail-fail-fail results in quick succession before they start pulling off sick feats via luck and conditioning.
As I said, Super Ninja Spring seems to manage that, at least from what’s shown in the video.
I am always a little unsure of new control mechanics, sometimes drag-drop mechanics shouldn’t be used in games that require precision (case in point: Red Game Without a Great Name) but, SSN seems to give ample room around the obstacles to allow the mechanic room for use.
When’s it due?
It’s due for release in the Summer (Hey, that’s now!) when it will launch on PC.
