What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
A brutally fast paced, one-hit arcade smash where you’ll dice your way through enemies, reflecting bullets, and narrowly dodging death.
What do we like most about it?
Arcade classics where the player lifespan can be counted in seconds not minutes were far from my kind of game as I grew up, although as extra types of movements and actions have been added to the genre -as seen in PK’s dodging, sweeping attacks, and bullet deflections- it’s become a game type of choice.
Project Katana’s strengths are in it’s obvious dependence on reflex-powered timing, but also the delightful explosions and mess that results from perfectly timed dodging and attacks. This is all further enhanced by that hypnotic, glowing low-res assets, a pumping soundtrack and a numbing colour-scheme.
There’s really not much else to say about PK, but that’s fine, games don’t need to be complicated, sometimes something like this is just perfect.
When’s it due?
Project Katana doesn’t currently have a rough release date scheduled. When it does launch, however, it will do so for Windows PC.
