What type of game is it?

Adventure Puzzle with Beat ’em Up sections.

What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?

Explore two worlds, a fifteenth century Spanish hilltop town, and the very depths of hell, as you solve puzzles in one moment and  work your way through Beat ’em Up sections in the next.

What do we like most about it?

Back From Hell’s artwork is intriguing, so intriguing that I’ve been following the developer on Twitter for at least a month after I spotted some of the artwork through on the various gamedev hashtags. It’s been an interesting journey watching photorealistic characters and fixed viewpoint, classical locations come together like Myst but as an adventure game.

Shame on me, I suppose, as I wasn’t aware of the beat ’em up sections in the game, which look interesting and appropriately timing based, it’ll be interesting to see how well the excellently captured animation holds up in combat. It was the clever puzzles that stuck out more, and foreshadowed a strange mystery in the Iberian town.

Back From Hell, a veritable smorgasbord of genres, is currently on Kickstarter seeking funding to expand the size of the project, it’s certainly worth a look.

When’s it due?

Back from Hell is currently on Kickstarter where it was a December 2017 fulfilment date listed. It is set to launch for Windows PC, Mac & Linux.
