Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy developers Owlcat Games have been working away on it for quite some time now, and has been drip feeding information and playtests out over the last year. Now they’ve announced the first voice actors to be bringing some of your newfound companions to life, one grunt at a time.
The new Dark Heresy voice roster of includes Aaron Sinn as Haymar Devos, Jonathan Cox as Cogg, Brittany Chanel as Epione Spes, Stephen Spencer as Saro, Rhiannon Moushall as Ra’akhti, Chris Sharpes as Laarthyr Cairnareth and Ian Russell as Servo-Ossuarium. With a combination of returning voices and fresh faces from Owlcat Games as well as many others – it is a list choc-full of well-known, awardwinning actors.
The first name on the list of new talent is Aaron Sinn portraying Haymar Devos, a former Catachan Devil, one of the more jungle-based fighters of the Imperium with a sharp set of skills that make him a perfect asset of the inquisition. Aaron is an Emmy-nominated actor with over fifteen years of experience.
Jonathon Cox, who had also worked on Owlcat’s Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous as Stahlmer, as well as Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader as the Rogue Trader’s Pious voice, will be portraying Cogg, an Ogryn with enhanced intelligence. Cogg did feature in the Dark Heresy playtest as one of the early companions and is fiercely loyal as a result of a quest to find his missing sergeant. With a mass of both muscle and mind it will be interesting to see just how Cogg compliments your party.
Brittany Chanel steps into the role of Epione Spes of the Officio Medicae. Brittany has featured in the TV series The Psycology of Murder and now lends her voice to the steely mind of one of the Imperiums more medically minded individuals as they explore the sector capital of Scintilla to hunt down the source of a mysterious disease.
One of the more unstable characters on the list is Saro the Psyker, voiced by Stephen Spencer whose previous work consists of titles such as Lord of The Fallen. Psykers, as a whole, live a little closer to the warp than most other members of the Imperium and Saro is no different. Fervently devoted, while also treated as an outcast by most, Saro is sure to add some fire with his pyromantic psyker abilities.
Rhiannon Moushall, another Owlcat returning talent who also featured on Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is now back in the grimdark world as Ra’akhti, a Kroot scout – one of the less looked at factions on the expansive Warhammer list. They are tribalistic in nature and Ra’akhti has been shunned and declared ‘Inedible’ for transgressions against her tribes traditions. After a brief encounter with The Acolyte and being saved from a life of exile and rejection Ra’akhti joins the group.
Chris Sharpes is also returning from Rogue Trader where he portrayed Pascal Haneumann and this time steps into the shoes of Laarthyr Cairnareth, an Aeldari Corsair.
With the wide and expansive list of roles, classes and races available to recruit and customise, Laarthyr marks a look into one of the more interesting and powerful Xenos as they are a Wayseeker, someone who would normally navigate the webway and guide ships and their crews to their destinations.
The last actor mentioned in the reveal is Ian Russell who portrayed Abelard Vesarian in Rogue Trader, one of the more popular companions. This time he will be taking on the mantle of Servo-Ossuarium, a collection of servo skulls set to assist The Acolyte on their investigations and aid them in rooting out the deep reaches of potential heresy.
There’s sure to be many more reveals as we drift closer to the final Dark Heresy release.
