New PAC-MAN: Snack Breaks animation for PAC-MAN Day

Big Boss Battle announced their birthday this month and, as it turns out, it’s not the only popular video game thing celebrating a birthday! PAC-MAN’s birthday is on May 22nd (very close to our May 27th Birthday), and much like us, they are celebrating for the full month. Their first release is PAC-MAN: Snack Breaks — a teaser animation trailer for their new animated shorts series.

This animated series was created in partnership with New York-based studio Cartuna, with the aim to connect the dots between past and present PAC-MAN. There will also be a NYC PAC-MAN Chompionship tournament at Paley Museum, as a part of this birthday celebration.

PAC-MAN has been around long enough to be in the Namco Museum on Nintendo Switch, have their own PAC-MAN quarter-scale arcade cabinet, and their own tabletop game versions of the classic arcade game. Having their own mini-series feels like the next step. Along with the launch of the PAC-MAN: Snack Breaks shorts, there will also be a bunch of other promtions.

In Fruit Ninja, starting May 6th, you will be able to find 4 PAC-MAN themed in-game events, combining a different, newer arcade classic with such an iconic classic. In PAC-MAN WORLD: 2 Re-PAC, you can find a free costume to celebrate PAC-MAY as well.

The PAC-MAN: Snack Breaks teaser trailer is quite adorable, with a classic, cartoon vibe to it. PAC-MAN of course is seen eating snacks, rolling around, and finding a new maze to explore. I do feel that this animated short series will delight both a younger generation and nostalgic individuals who were always a fan of PAC-MAN.

If you are looking for more on the history of PAC-MAN, the book PAC-MAN: Birth of an Icon was reviewed previously by us, which was a delight.

“I believe Pac-Man fans would be hard-pressed to find another book that is so comprehensive, detailed and analytical in its coverage of the history of Pac-Man, pulling together quotes, pictures and information from such a diverse range of sources in order to tell this story. This would make a perfect coffee table book to flick through and enjoy the vibrant images, bringing some colour and happiness to these cold, dark November evenings.”
