RUSHING BEAT X: Return of Brawl Brothers – Smooth and satisfying

0
Beat ‘em ups have been around since the dawn of time, and if you are a fan of retro games, you might know of some of the characters within Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers (based on a retro game that had a variety of different regional names).

As someone who doesn’t really know retro games, but has played a lot of games in this current day and age, I found Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers to be a fantastic beat ‘em up with a lot of different characters, a strange yet captivating story, and combos that feel just satisfying to gain!

There are different modes to the game, and when I had a chance to play, I picked one of the easier ones so that I could have the joy of comboing up without much effort. Even without using the easiest mode, it is a satisfying experience by design. Counter attacks feel good and canceling out actions with jumps or dashes give you a bit of an edge if you think quickly. You can pick a character, then start taking on a world where you need to kill strange maids, fight zombie-like characters, and purchase food at trucks (or combining food you have found) to get power ups. I quite liked grabbing items.

There are tons of different moves and weapons, along with a fun 2-player co-op where you can team up with a friend to really knock the breath out of your enemies, often overkilling them and shoving them into the ground. There are boss fights that feel fantastic and a bunch of different areas to explore. It’s just a fantastic, well made title adding to the genre, that feels like an upgraded version of something more familiar.

You can purchase Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brother on Steam.
