Ubisoft’s The Division Studio Working On Untitled Avatar Title Set In Pandora
A game based on James Cameron’s Avatar universe is being worked on by Ubisoft’s Studio, Massive Entertainment has partnered with Lightstorm Entertainment, Fox Interactive.
Massive Entertainment is the name to pay attention too here as they’re the people that were behind Tom Clancy’s The Division, and plan to bring the unnamed title to PC and consoles. The partnership between Ubisoft, Lightstorm Entertainment, and Fox Interactive was announced by Ubisoft on the 29th February. They plan to bring a game set within the world of Pandora, the world the Avatar film is set within. Ubisoft’s studio, Massive Entertainment was behind the creation of The Division last year, and are now behind this title.
There are four sequels to the Avatar movie in development, and the game being created is to expand on the universe and explore the lore and world more in depth. Massive Entertainment ran an early prototype of the game using the Snowdrop engine, which allows realistic game universes to be created with real time destruction, global illumination, and incredible details visually. The Snowdrop engine was also used in The Division, so that gives us a good insight into what the title could look like.
The below video comes with the announcement and shows shots from the film, hopefully we will see some game footage in the coming months.
